Katie is only going to be a stinker a little bit.

I left for work late this morning so I was still home when Katie woke up. I heard her talking in her room and I went in and sang her good morning song and she was happy to see me. So happy that she didn't want me to go to work but I asked her "What does mommy earn at work?" and she said "money" and I told her that was right... that the money I earn at work pays for the house and our cars and water and toys and she was fine after that. We sat on her bed for a few minutes and just talked and then she came with me to say goodbye at the door. As I was about to leave and I told her to be a good listener, a good helper, and not to be a stinker! She said "Mommy, can I be a little bit stinker?" I told her that would be okay.

I had just shut the screen door and I said good bye again and she said "bye mommy. drive safely" She is so precious and silly!

Last night I worked a little later and John picked me up. Usually on those days we'll go out for dinner and just us two. So I got in the car and he told me that Katie was laughing at his jean shorts and that she told him that his shorts were just like her shorts which, I guess she thought was the funniest thing ever because she laughed about it all afternoon! When she saw him she would put her hand over her mouth and laugh and point. He hasn't worn thos shorts in awhile, probably before she can remember, and she does have a pair that are the same length... he got a kick out of her laughing at his shorts.

La Luna can be found in the strangest of places

Katie is a potty chair pro. This is day 3 of her using the potty exclusively and no accidents. I guess she decided it was time. She gets up in the morning and takes off her diaper to go potty and then goes into her room to pick out a pair of underpants and wears them all day! I come home to a full potty chair (because she wants to see how much she's gone... which I think is weird but probably pretty fun for a 3-year old) and a proud little girl!

We've told her that once she goes potty in the potty chair, she'll be able to go to school. She had gone in her chair a few times at this point, so I told her that it had to be consistently... all of the time in the potty chair and then she can go to school. I wonder if her memory is that good... and that's why she's making this effort. Hmmmm.

The first time she went poo in the potty chair was such a big deal. Just three days ago I was eating an m&m and she wanted one. I asked her if she had gone poopy in her potty chair and she said no... so I told her she couldn't have one. Well, she left the kitchen pretty quickly and I heard her in the bathroom. I figured it was a false alarm because she's done it before. We get all excited when she says "I went poopy in my potty chair!" and there's nothing there so I didn't really expect much. I went in and sure enough! She did it!! She looked at it and told me "Mama! My poopy looks like la luna!" And it did. Kinda.

I'm a sweetheart... Katie says so and Honey had better watch herself!

Katie was in her bath on Sunday night playing with her little princess doll she had gotten from Grandma Rose and Grandpa George for her birthday and having a great time which meant that I would, hopefully, have at least an hour to fold laundry and do stuff around the house. Don't worry! I can hear her running commentary, doll discussions, and song singing from anywhere on the main floor and if it gets too quiet I rush to check on her because she's either a) using her tea cup or worse, her tea pot to pour water onto a plate on the ledge of the tub which means the floor will get soaked or b) trying to figure out how to get a toy or the washcloth from outside of the tub and therefore out of her reach into the tub so she can play with it. So I'm folding laundry in the bedroom and Katie calls me for about the fourth time using her usual "mommy, I neeeeeed you... mommy..." I go in and ask what she needs... again... and she basically just wants to have me there to watch her stir soap bubbles in her tea cup with her dolls legs. I told her that if she calls me and it's not an emergency, I might have to finish up her bath and get her out... A few minutes later, Katie says "Emergency, Emergency, mommy!" So I walk over and ask what the emergency is. Katie looks at me solemnly and says "mommy... Honey tricked you. There's no emergency." I kept a straight face and told Katie that if Honey tries that again, Katie would be in trouble for not stopping her and that Katie would have to finish her bath. Honey kept quiet for the rest of the bath.

After bath time, Katie was sitting on the bed matching up her socks and I was folding Jacob's sleepers. Katie asked me "Mama, that for my baby doll?" and I told her that it still fit Jacob so I was going to keep it for him. Well, a little later I saw a sleeper that was too small for Jake so I told Katie she could have it for her baby doll. She looked at me and said "Thank you mommy, you're a sweetheart." How precious and how sweet!

Now last night we were laying in bed and watching TV. Katie had the remote and was changing channels and I could tell she felt the power of the remote! She would put something on and then ask "Mama, you like this show?" It didn't matter if I said yes or no... she would change it anyway to find something else. Finally after seeing some questionable stuff for a 3-year old, I told her she could watch the food channel or the house channel and that was it. She was fine with that until I told her that if she changed the channel on "accident" I would take away the remote. When I heard her dissappointed "awww" and then saw the TV go dark, I knew tell that her plan was to have lots of tv changing "accidents" and once she realized that it wasn't an option, the tv wasn't so exciting! About 10 minutes later she told me "mama, I go to my bed" (YAY!!!) but when I got up after things had quieted down, I realized that she hadn't quite made it to her room... she was laying on the floor at the foot of the bed not 5 feet from where she started. I guess she was so tired and her bed was too far away!

Dinner at Grammy and Grampys

We were invited to dinner at grammy and grampy's on Friday night and when I asked grandma what we were having (I don't know why I want to know in advance... it's not like I'm NOT going to eat what's served!) and she told me "au gratin potatoes with ham." I asked grandma what the entree was and she said that that was the entree. Interesting. I mean, au gratin potatoes are a side dish, aren't they? I told grandma that we would be there and were looking forward to it but I still thought it was funny that we were having a side dish for dinner! After I hung up, I leaned waaaay back in my chair (I was at work) and asked my friend Lori if she had ever heard of that... she said "sure... with ham" so I shrugged my shoulders and decided to let it go.

When we got to their house, Katie saw all of the downstairs toys upstairs in the living room and she went right to them. I had to tell her that we needed to eat first and she quickly told me "mama, I not hungry" and I knew she was hungry but would rather play. I was able to turn her attention to dinner without any problem (whew!) and we ate and visited. Jacob slept in his car seat while we ate and woke up just as we were finishing up. After dinner, grammy held Jacob and watched Katie play with all of the toys and I sat with grandpa while he finished his dinner. We had ice cream cones (Katie's favorite) for dessert and were in the kitchen talking and got on the topic of coins and change. I told grammy and grampy that Katie feeds her piggy all of our spare change (I usually give it to her if I find it laying around). Well, grampy went into his coin purse and pulled out lots of his change and he gave it to Katie for her pig. She was very pleased! Grammy put it in an old vitamin bottle so it wouldn't get lost and Katie played some more and then it was time for us to go. (Of course I couldn't find my keys so I did the key search for about 15 minutes and finally remembered that I had put them in my coin purse in the diaper bag... grrr.) We got in the car and grampy was in the driveway saying goodbye and we were pulling out and I heard Katie in the back say "That was nice. Grampy gave me money to feed my piggy." I had to tell her to say it again because it was so cute and she did. How precious!

Mother's Day weekend was so fun... I needed a week to recouperate enough to write about it.

Katie liked playing with Paige's melmo and other toys. She really liked the big slide climbing thing Uncle Mike put together in the garage. She was "helping" Paige at the end of the slide - just putting her hands gently under Paige's arms so she wouldn't fall down... even though Jenny was right there holding onto Paige. Katie was telling her not to worry she would catch her.

Jacob is his happy self at gramma and grampa's place!

And so it begins...
Friday was, as usual, busy and hectic trying to get two kids ready to go to gramma and grampa's for the weekend. I finally got everything packed (and I mean EVERYthing... since we can't go anywhere for longer than 4 hours without clothes changes, baby swing, bathtub, Katie's dolls, bottles, formula, books, jammies, diapers, wipes, and, well, everything) and everyone in the car and we were on our way!

Jacob fell asleep pretty much right away and Katie dozed off a bit later. What a peaceful ride! Usually, since we ride up with Gramma and Grampa, I think it makes sense to put my head back for a nice little nap. Well, Katie doesn't think I should close my eyes so it's a lot of me with my eyes shut for 2 seconds and Katie telling me to open my eyes. At least she hasn't wanted to play her game I fondly call "duck" - a game that involves Katie choosing random bridges or large signs and telling everyone to "duck! duck!" underneath. It can be just a tiny little bit tiring to do this for any length of time... not to mention it kindof hurts my neck.

We got up there late since mom had to work till 9 p.m. but there was some pizza left from Mike that made for a good snack. Katie was asleep when we arrived so dad carried her to bed and she stayed asleep. Gammy cuddled Jacob and fed him his bottle until he was asleep. Mom took Jacob that night and I slept like a baby! :)

We ate a delicious breakfast on Saturday that Grandma made - egg dish, pull apart sticky rolls, fruit - soooo good! John was there in time for breakfast since the men were going to be putting in the docks that day. Well, after breakfast they started their work and Katie went out to watch. She played out there for a long time - until she was so cold I figured she couldn't feel the cold cause her fingers were numb! Lunch was delicious chili and I made the cornbread. Katie helped me and we made one batch where I put the honey into the batter and the other batch we put the honey on top of the batter after pouring it into the dish. The batch with the honey on top was fluffy and sweet and looked pretty. The other batch was, well, not so pretty. Just a word of warning to anyone planning to put honey into the batter before it's in the dish, expect to have to call them cornbread bars... because that's what they will look like. Thin unappealing looking bars. But I guess they tasted really good because there were only 2 left at the end of lunch! The men really seemed to like them.

Before lunch, me, mom, and the kids went to Walmart for some necessities - meatloaf mix and pop were mine. Well, I walked out of Walmart $70 poorer. Katie got a new summer dress and some cute sandals, I bought mom's mothers day gift, I got some stuff that John requested, and two cute tank tops. I wish I could focus on only buying what I need but it's pretty much impossible when at Walmart.

John and I had a silent exchange before I left. He was outside and I was inside and O hollered out the window to ask him if he needed anything. He pointed to his heart and to the fire and at first I thought he was telling me that his "heart" was on "fire" for me. But it turns out he just wanted heartburn pills.

We got home and hung out till dinner. Dad made a feast to say thanks for the help with the docks and it was so good I could have eaten it every day since! He made fajitas, grilled chicken, grilled sausage, mom made dessert salads and pico. It was sooo good. We all ate till we were stuffed.

Jacob got a bath at some point and in the evening, Paige and Katie jumped into the tub for a quick hair washing for Paige and some play time with dolls.

Mike and Jenny had a movie we watched and then it was off to bed. Everyone else played games.

Sunday we went to church and saw a slide show of family pics. Mom had a slide in there with a few pictures of us and the kids. They were really nice. When we got home, we started to get dinner ready and we took some cute pics of me and the kids and Jenny and Paige and grandma and mom and mom with me and Mike. Then we ate lunch - meatloaf I had put together the day before, cheesy potatoes, corn and other stuff I can't remember. The men went back outside and the ladies opened up mothers day cards inside.

Soon after, John headed home and a while after that, Mike and Jenny and Paige left. I ordered pizza for supper and we ate and got packed and headed home.

Fun weekend!

Katie and Paige played on the sheep together for a few minutes until Paige decided she was ready to try it on her own. Katie was unseated and Paige settled into the full seat all by her big girl self!

Sunday: Katie was playing outside and I watched her pick these. She came to the house holding these in front of her and then she said "close your eyes mommy" and put them behind her back. I closed my eyes and she counted to 3 and said "open your eyes" and I did and... then she pulled this beautiful bouquet out from behind her back. How precious! I told her I loved them and they were beautiful and I put them in a glass. She wanted them back a few minutes later but they were mine and I kept them!

Katie with gramma's musical bears!

Grampy and Jacob

Finally some peace and quiet.

Katie and the no friends rule

Katie and grampa were talking and grampa said that she needed to go potty in the potty chair so she could go to school and make friends. Katie said "I don't want friends. I don't want friends till I'm 5 years old." And if I know my Katie, she probably crossed her arms and gave a "hmph" and turned her head to the side with her nose in the air.

She seems to have a tiny attitude issue. It comes out when she wants something that she can't have or just when she's talking in general. That whiny tone or the demanding tone. I think she's getting better, at least when she talks to me. She starts with a tone but usually changes it, sometimes mid sentence, when I look at her with a "reminding" glance... you know... the one that silently says that time out isn't too far away. The raised eyebrow and the watchful stare usually works to stop a mean or whiny tone. If that doesn't work I can usually tell her that I don't understand her when she talks mean and if she talks nice I can. Of course, even the threat of time out doesn't matter if a full meltdown is in progress... that can only be resolved with the actual time out and a talent for ignoring the "mama... mommmmy... I want OUT... I want OUT of here... Mama!!!. Even in the midst of a tough time out, this still gets me to crack a smile even if it's not one I can share with my precious, wonderful, opinionated, stubborn, sweet, independant little girl!

Katie and the wedding

Katie and I were talking last night before bed (while she at her mac and cheese crackers and drank her milk and I ate half of a cookie I wasn't even hungry for and drank my milk) and she told me "I marry your mommy, mom." I said what? Since I didn't quite understand her at first and she said it again... I asked her why because, well, it's a kinda strange thing to say and she told me "because she my gramma." Now if she would have said something about "because she plays play doh with me, because she gives me treats, because she goes for walks with me, because she... well, because of all of the things gramma does with her, I would have totally gotten her reasoning. Maybe "because she my gramma" is her way of saying all of those things without actually saying them. Hmmm.

I did tell her that she will meet a boy who will like her and they will play together and they will need to be sick together and go to dinner together and talk to each other and when she's much, much, much older she will want to marry him... but no, she still wanted to marry gramma.

Jacob and the big foot

The other night, during our ice cream cone time, I was holding Jacob in the kitchen while Katie enjoyed her ice cream cone.

I had a foot shaped teether that goes in the freezer and decided to try it on Jacob since he's been eating his hands so much lately and it's frankly a little disturbing. Not to mention worrisome when I hear him choke on his little fingers. So I pulled it out and managed to move his little hands out of the way and set it lightly against his gums. He wasn't too sure of it at first but then he seemed to get what it was for and started to chew on it. After a minute, he had his hand on mine and he would push my arm back and the teether would come out of his mouth, then he would pull my arm in and the teether would go back into his mouth. He did this for about 5 minutes before he decided that he would rather have his bottle. I was so surprised that he figured out the cause and effect of it all at his little baby age of 3 months! Plus it was super cute watching him.

Katie and the jammie meltdown

Katie was not a happy camper. She has a favorite nightgown that I've come to realize she loves only because it is a) long and b) "twirly". Now, until I had a 3 year old daughter, I didn't even realize that twirly was a word but now... it makes perfect sense.

Well, the other night I had to tell her that the nightgown was in the wash. She pretended not to hear me and asked for it again. I told her again, with my infinite patience, that the nightgown was in the wash. The third time, patience running a little lower, I told her that the nightgown was still in the wash because, remember on Friday when you wore it all morning and you ate and spilled pizza on it and it got dirty? Well, we need to wash it so it's in the wash. She got that look on her face that tells me that the next however many minutes are not going to be pleasant. She asked for it again and in a very firm voice (or as firm a voice as a 3 year old can come up with when trying to sound like mommy at her firmest) said that she wanted her nightgown. Well at this point, there's not going to be any way to reason with her. I know she knows that it's in the wash and I know she knows that I know that she understands it's IN THE WASH but she's ignoring the reality in favor of wearing her favorite long twirly nightgown. Arg.

Finally we compromised (and that night, compromise = ice cream cone) on her blue short and tank top jammies and she was a happy camper.

Carrots are a kids best friend

Katie likes to go to Cub with grandpa because she gets to ride in the "car" cart. Dad told me that she rides in the car and talks on her phone and every once in awhile she will get out and ask him what things are. Well, it didn't occur to me that I've never seen those special carts at our Cub until mom and dad got home from Cub one night with their groceries and I said something about the carts and dad told me "oh, they don't have them there." I was surprised since he had been telling me that every time they go to Cub, Katie loves riding on the special carts and so I had to ask him where the carts were if not at Cub. I found out that dad doesn't take Katie to the Cub 5 minutes away... no, they go to the other Cub because that's where the car carts are that Katie loves so much. Just one example of how lucky (spoiled?) my little girl is!

Oh, if you've read previous posts you will know that Katie has been obsessed with carrots. I guess Caillou (whiny cartoon boy) had eaten them on his show which made them a must have for Katie. She finally got her carrots the other night. Mom and dad brought them home after their last grocery trip and I asked her "what have you wanted for a long time but we didn't have any?" and she thought and then said "ice cream?" and I said nooo, something else... and she got an excited look on her face and said "carrots?" and I showed her the bag I had hiding behind my back and she was so thrilled! I told her to go show daddy and I heard her run into the living room and then I heard a sound like the bag had been thrown at daddy and I heard her tell him that she had carrots! I never knew that carrots could make a kid so happy. She happily at baby carrots while her grandpa had an ice cream cone. Well, she took the bag into the living room and left it on the coffee table to munch on and when she was distracted (which is helpful when I'm putting away certain toys that seem to multiply... 37 piece dish sets anyone?... or things she just wants to see all of the time... like her precious bag of carrots!) I put the bag back in the fridge. Two minutes later she came back into the living room and asked me "mama, where my carrots?" So I told her that they were in the fridge on her shelf. She ran off to get them before the words were fully out of my mouth.

Yes, she has a shelf in the fridge just for her stuff. Juice boxes, apple slices, pudding cups, fruit cups... carrots. I had to do that when she started to open the refrigerator door all by herself. She can also use the water dispenser on the fridge now too. Luckily she is really good at aiming into her sippy cup. Whew.

I know... pictures are good but we're having trouble loading them...

For some reason, we haven't been able to load pictures onto the laptop in forever! Here are some from a budding photographer for your viewing enjoyment until we can get pics off of our camera. Oh, in case you wonder, Katie is the photographer!

If you think Monday was bad...

Tuesday. Does anyone write any songs about Tuesday? Someone should. They could call it "Go back to bed... it will only get worse!" and they could dedicate it to Katie. I guess she had another tough day today. She asked for carrots... AGAIN and we still don't have any.
ARG.
When I got home, she was downstairs playing with grampa and having a blast. She was invited to go to dinner with grandma and grandpa to Old Country Buffet and grocery shopping after. Well, she was a bit testy so I asked if she wouldn't rather stay home and eat yummy orange chicken and rice but no, she clearly said I want to go to Old Country Buffet. So, okay. Off they went, with one pause to leave her chapstick here. She loves her chapstick but just can't be trusted not to turn the dial till it all comes out of the holder so that's one of her "contraband" toys.

When they got home, around 7:45 or so, we went for a walk. Katie pushed her baby doll in the stroller (see the cookie tossing post) till we were about halfway through when she dropped her second to last piece of candy. She had eaten MANY pieces of candy already so I wasn't about to let her eat this one off of the ground and boy she was NOT happy. Grandpa gave her a ride home on his shoulders which she loved and mommy was in charge of bringing the baby doll stroller - with the baby doll strapped into it. Katie looked back every few minutes to make sure that I was still there and that her beloved baby doll was being treated right... even going so far as to tell me "Mama, don't drop my baby doll, okay!?" Well, we got home and she had a bit of a meltdown. She wanted more candy and grandpa gave her a tootsie roll which she could not have until she said thank you. Well, she would not. So I gave grandpa the candy back and we went into the hallway outside of her room and ours where I let her choose which she wanted - jammies or time out. Well, it sounded like she had forgotten her entire vocabulary with one exception... the word candy. She said candy, i want candy, candyyyyyyy, candy candy, mama, candyyyyyyyy. So she got a time out. She sits on the rug next to the bed and cried for candy the whole time. It was very pitiful but at no point was I tempted to give her any candy. She tooted and I said, Katie, was that you tooting? And she said, mama, my toot wants candy too. I had to laugh and luckily I was able to cover my face with her jammies. It was so funny! Finally after time out was over, I got her jammies on and we sat and rocked and I told her that mommy was in charge of candy from now on. I would decide if she got it or not. So hopefully that will stop this need for sugar she was showing us tonight. It was not very sweet! She went to bed at around 11 tonight. I sat up till almost midnight writing this stuff... twice because I hit some combination of keys and deleted all but my first few sentences and so had to remember what I had written... gulp... not an easy task!

Monday, Monday... da daaaa da da da da... da daaa da da da da

(Just an added little hint about this posts title... I had a mama's and papa's song stuck in my head and it just happened to fit today's exciting theme.)

Monday was fun for John. Just kidding... it wasn't so much fun. I called in the afternoon to say hello to my little darling daughter and learned that she and Jacob were both crying machines. I asked what was up and he told me that it started when she told him she wanted carrots. I was like... "well... we don't have carrots." He was like... "I know." in a very deadpan voice. I think he *might* have already tried to explain that to her. She wasn't accepting that as the final answer. Even hearing the commotion at home didn't stop me from wishing I could be there to see Katie since I only got to see her while dad carried her from the car to her bed. And it was only her tush that I saw since she rolled over to her tummy right when she laid down!
Monday evening I got home and the living room was empty... no one was in the back yard... I didn't see any of my family! I thought they might be playing hide and seek since sometimes Katie does that when I get home. But she wasn't in any of her usual hiding places - laying on the floor between the couch and the coffee table or peeking out at me from under the living room bench or giggling from under the kitchen table. I finally went into the bedroom to change my clothes and saw John and Jacob laying in bed. John told me that Katie was taking a nap in her room. I kind of figured that bedtime at a decent hour was a bust. When John told me she had been sleeping since 3:00 so I really resigned myself to a late late night.
Well, Katie wanted pot pies for dinner and I was going to make one for her in the oven but she told me she wanted me to make it in the microwave. It tasted better. Well, okey dokey! I tried to convince her that it tasted better in the oven but she was sure the microwave was better so I broke down and made it in the microwave. Then I started to make my dinner - hot dogs and mac and cheese. I know... why, right? But for some reason it sounded really good. So I'm making my noodles and suddenly I hear a loud thud and then another... coming from the kitchen table where Katie was eating her pot pie and drinking her chocolate milk out of her tiny glass. Well, she was drinking her chocolate milk... until she dropped it on the floor and it sprayed across the kitchen. There was chocolate milk on Katie, on the floor, on the stove, on the door, on the table, on the wall, on Jacob, alllll over the kitchen! Katie was about to start crying when I told her that she smelled good... like chocolate milk! Once I did that, she felt better. Well, mom and dad took the kids for a walk and I cleaned the floor, walls, table, stove, door, everything that had a hint of chocolate. Then I ate my delicious dinner and cleaned up. When everyone got home, me and mom took the kids to grammy and grampys house for a visit. We were there from 8 till about 9:30 and grammy and grampy held Jacob while Katie played. Grampy told her to go into the kitchen and get the broom out of the closet, which she did and then open the closet door, which she did, and then to use it to bump the tiger she loves so much off of the high shelf so she could reach it... but she was too short and grampy had to do it. She played with the beach balls, tiger and some dice while we visited. She was stacking dice 5 or 6 high and was so proud of herself! We left when the kids started to get crabby.
I was right about bed time. Katie was going strong until just after midnight and when she finally fell asleep, it was on the floor next to the coffee table. I tried to get her to lay in her bed but she didn't want to do that. She wanted to lay on the floor and me to lay on the couch. When I mentioned that we should go lay down in bed... she put her hand on my knee to stop me and said, mama, I lay on the floor and you lay on the couch, okay? It was very serious!

Katie and the tossed cookies

Mom asked me if Katie was a mama's girl... I guess Katie was downstairs visiting with her and mom was making dinner and using a screen on the pan to stop the splatters and Katie told her "my mommy has one of those" and then when she was using a scissors "my mommy has that" and when she used a spoon, "my mommy uses that" and I guess it went on for a bit with my mommy this and my mommy that!

On Thursday, Katie and mommy went to pick up some clothes from Alex's house. On the way there, I asked her if she wanted to go to the lake with grandma and grandpa over the weekend and she, of course, did! Well, she asked "mommy, and daddy, and Jakie too?" I told her it would just be her and grandma and grandpa and it would be so fun but she said mommy and jakie too. I had to tell her that it was just her and she said "I know! Mommy go to work and work real fast and come home and mommy and Jakie go to the lake too! How precious is that... she was planning for me so I could be with her. Even if I was looking forward to the weekend bonding with Jacob and doing the things I can't usually do with her there. She finally resigned herself to going, as opposed to staying home with mommy, daddy, and Jakie which were the only two choices I gave her!
When we got to Alex's house, the kids played and I went through tons of cute clothes to pull some stuff for Jacob AFTER I got to hold little Makayla! She's just a tiny armfull, a very dainty little girl! Alex is such a good talker, very clear, and a wonderful host... he asked his grandma if he could have a treat and if Katie could too. He asked me if it was okay and he was so sweet. They both had their treats and played together. On the way home, we had to stop at the library and Katie said she wanted to get some books for Alex. :)

Bad news; Katie tossed her cookies all over her bed on Friday morning. John heard her crying in her room and went to see what the ruckus was about and saw the mess. He got her changed, put everything in the washer and calmed her down. I was impressed.
She was feeling better pretty quickly and so we figured she would be okay to send to the lake with gamma and umpa and since there were no further cookie tosses all day and no general ickiness, we felt pretty okay about it. So, cut to later that night when the three got to Culvers for the Friday night dinner. Umpa was carrying Katie into the restaurant when... she puked all over herself AND him. Luckily for them both, they had clothes for the weekend in the car and could change, but probably not too fun for dad since, when he's carrying Katie her face is pretty much right next to his face... and she probably didn't worry about aiming away from him when she... ahem... I won't go into details on that one. Needless to say, it was pretty gross and not too fun for any of the participants.
I got updates from gamma throughout the weekend and it sounded like Katie was having a very fun time. She was pretty happy she went. She bought a bracelet at a craft fair, grandma bought her some stuffed animals and a little baby stroller at a garage sale and she got to "order" whatever she wanted to eat. She didn't throw up any more and seemed to be back to normal on Sunday.
